A whole lot of messy .... but 2 simple ingredients ... shaving cream and reinkers.

Check out Diane's new t-shirt.

And her new border punch.

Sally was thrilled with herself because she was able to participate even with her hurt wrist. Her physical therapist would be so proud.

Split Negative and Shiny Butterfly

Our June meeting was held a week early on Saturday, June 13, 2009. We had eight of us all together. Diane demonstrated how to make the shiny butterfly that we had to leave to dry and will assemble next time (July 18).

Between the step of letting the Mod Podge dry and applying the Crystal Effects, Reyne demonstrated the Split Negative technique.
- Stamp image in VersaMark™ onto the black cardstock.
- Add white embossing powder, tap off excess, and heat image.
- Stamp image in VersaMark™ onto the white cardstock.
- Add black embossing powder, tap off excess, and heat image.
- Determine the exact midpoint of the piece of cardstock and cut both images in half.

The card swap this time was a patriotic / July 4th theme. We each made two cards . . . one to swap and one for the military box that Beverly is mailing for July 4th. The Scrapshack ladies even included personal notes for our brave men and women.

I was asked for the instructions for this tri-fold shutter card.
Notice the star is using the split negative technique but using red and blue cardstock with clear embossing powder.

Faux Leather, Bleaching and Masking Techniques

Saturday, April 18, 2009 Diane taught 9 ScrapShack girls three fun techniques. She had printed out the instructions before hand so we could follow along and then include it with our Techniques Album.

FAUX LEATHER
Cover cardstock with strips of masking tape.

Rub with ink and wipe off excess. Cover with versamark and clear embossing powder then heat.

Here are some of the completed Faux Leather cards:

BLEACH TECHNIQUE
Use bleach in this technique similar to a stamp pad where you pour a generous amount on paper towels or just dip your paint brush in the bleach. The bleach is not diluted so splashes could turn out to be another bleach technique. It is a good idea to label your bleach brush.

We did a lot of experimenting with stamps and different colored cardstock. Some worked better than others. Look how different ours came out:

Last we learned a technique called MASKING.

The Mother's Day card swap was fun as well. Here are just 2 of the cards.
