Turnout was low today so the five of us spread out with lots of elbow room. Hope everyone feels better soon, colonoscopy (SP?) is fine, the car gets fixed and all the errands get done. We made faux leather wallets out of paper that look so real. Then Diane showed us how to make this looped tree by cutting seven strips of paper 12 inches x 1 1/2 inches. Card swaps: NEXT TIME we will meet on April 17 and the card swap theme is FLOWERS.
Saturday, April 18, 2009 Diane taught 9 ScrapShack girls three fun techniques. She had printed out the instructions before hand so we could follow along and then include it with our Techniques Album. FAUX LEATHER Cover cardstock with strips of masking tape. Rub with ink and wipe off excess. Cover with versamark and clear embossing powder then heat.
Here are some of the completed Faux Leather cards:
BLEACH TECHNIQUE Use bleach in this technique similar to a stamp pad where you pour a generous amount on paper towels or just dip your paint brush in the bleach. The bleach is not diluted so splashes could turn out to be another bleach technique. It is a good idea to label your bleach brush.
We did a lot of experimenting with stamps and different colored cardstock. Some worked better than others. Look how different ours came out:
In early 2009 a group of women agreed to meet monthly to share their love of paper crafting. We voted on our name to be Scrapshack Girls where we Scrap Craft Relax And Play. We meet in a country home in Abita Springs, Louisiana that has an unattached craft house that is set up with a kitchenette, satellite TV, air-conditioning and heating, bathroom and plenty of elbow room to craft. We share craft ideas and techniques and participate in card swaps and scrapbooking. Thanks for stopping by and checking out our activities.
